News 'n Views...

Hi.. just was reading the paper and found something interesting so thought of sharing..
Dress code for mannequins..
Have heard about dress codes for parties, offices, or halloween but dress code for mannequins, sure is, kinda weird.. In Sharjah, they have come up with this dress code that mannequins too have to be dressed decently i.e. no indecent exposure.. They shouldnt even have any distinguished facial features.. So, I guess, from now on window shoppers would have to feast their eyes on burqa clad mannequins, literally, with a wooden face.. Hope the Shivsainiks or the so called caretakers of our society dont come to know about this, otherwise our Indian mannequins too will be taken to task.. This sorta reminds me of the famous castration that took place in the Vatican in 1857 (Ref: Angels 'n Demons).. The then Pope, Pius IX decided that the accurate description of the male form might incite lust inside the Vatican.. So he got a chisel and hacked off the genitalia of all the male statues inside the Vatican city. Plaster fig leaves were used to patch the damage.. I believe, none of the so called moral police in India know about this Vatican episode otherwise none of the statues or sculptures in the Indian temples would be spared the chisel..

Childhood memories...

Hi folks.. am back again... hope you all had a wonderful weekend.. Today I was just whiling my time as usual by reading a book.. Most of you must have already read this book a hundred times over.. 'Killing a Mocking Bird', I had heard a lot about it but now only got the chance to get my hands on it.. Man, its really good.. A movie too has been made based on this and I would love to watch it.. While reading it I felt like I was revisiting my childhood.. Just like the kids in the book we too were a group of three my brother Sandy, myself 'n another kid by name of Chotu.. I was basically the character Jem was in the book.. then Chotu as Dill 'n Sandy as Scout.. We always used to hang around in our locality.. play games or sit around whiling our time doing nothing.. The funny thing is, when chotu moved into our locality we got introduced to each other through a fight only.. my mom remembers it exactly as it just happened right now.. both my bro 'n chotu rolling on the ground punching blows after blows.. but later, we all became such good friends that we were inseparable.. Just like the Radley house we too had our share of a haunted place but it was not a house but a water tank at the far end of a park near to our locality.. I remember we never used to go near to the tank ... NO... NO.. not because we were scared (how could that idea even cross your head!) we were just concerned as was humanly possible about the ghosts' well being.. ha ha.. It's so fun being kids.. no worries ..... no responsiblities.. just taking each day as it comes... making up imaginary stories.. eating softies 'n cotton candies.. Even though am pretty grown up now but am still a kid at heart.. always wanna be like that only.. I just love being with kids.. love playing with them.. watching cartoons... listening to them talk .. it's like reliving your childhood..

Love conquers all!!!

These are not my words.. I just found them in a book that I read titled 'Hypnerotomachia' ... It's an Ok kinda book not a great read as such... The title sounded pretty enticing 'n unique.. There are certain lines that are good like the one that have put in here otherwise it seems like some documentary.... Anyways go ahead and check out how love operates..

Love's not supposed to be on your side. You fight with him, you try to undo what he does to others. But he's too powerful. No matter how much we suffer, our hardships cannot move him. In the geometry of love , everything is triangular. The tongue of desire is forked, kissing two but loving one. Love draws lines between us like an astronomer plotting a constellation from stars, joining points into patterns that have no basis in nature. The butt of every triangle becomes the heart of another until the roof of reality is a tessellation(A tessellation or tiling of the plane is a collection of plane figures that fills the plane with no overlaps and no gaps) of love affairs. Taken together, they have the pattern of netting and behind them is Love. Love is the only perfect fisherman, the one who casts the broadest net, which no fish can escape. His reward is to sit alone in the tavern of life, forever a boy among men, hoping someday to tell stories about the one that got away.

Papa's l'l princess...

Hi.. am back.. today am feeling a bit sad coz dad is going out of station... it has always made me a bit sad coz when I was a little girl I used to go "daddy this... daddy that" all the time... He used to tell me that the first time he took me into his arms, as a new born, I had smiled at him, hence, my name... He used to take me whereever he went.. I was sorta like the HUTCH puppy following him everywhere.. A joke used to go around that if you see two heads coming their way then that's 'Gangadharan'.. So thanks to dad, I was a pretty popular kid in the neighbourhood.. It's not that I dont love my mom but it's always papa's girl 'n mama's boy.. aint it!

Love is in the air...

My first blog...

Phew!!! have finally made it.. Have been wanting to start a blog for a long time wherein I could write whatever I wanted.. Spill my heart out.. dont know how well am gonna do that.. coz am not someone who's good at advertising my emotions.. I keep it tightly packed without lettin people know what goes on behind my cool exterior... anyways here I am.. Hope I do justice.. So how do I start.. wot do I write!!! Ok as Valentine's Day is round the corner, maybe, something about LOVE..

So, all you lovey dovey people out there how does it feel to be in love... you can very easily make out the people who are in love.. the dreamy or faraway look in their eyes betrays them altogether... the way they, all of a sudden start humming romantic numbers makes for good listening (esp. with cotton buds in ones ears.)... But is it really necessary to celebrate something so personal, so subtle, so beautiful, so pure with such hue 'n cry... with big balloons advertising ur love... with expensive gifts.. Do we really need a separate day to express our love to someone.. Is February 14th a guarantee of sorts that your love will be accepted... So one day to love 'n the rest of the year to fight, eh!

Actually, come to think of it, 14th Feb can be made worthwhile if it's declared a public holiday... coz nowadays people are so busy running about to make ends meet that they end up not having enough time to meet their loved ones... so 14th Feb if made an holiday can atleast help in getting the loved ones together... What say!!!

Anyways, my stupid thoughts apart, Valentine's day does, even with the commercial aspect to it, make people look forward to it every year.. Singles, ready to mingle, thinking of ways on how to woo their crushes or couples trying to make up for all the things they forgot or did wrong all through the last year... It doesnt seem that bad when you take into consideration all these...

So, let Cupid, the cute l'l archer, pull back his bow' string and shower on all the lovely couples or would be couples with arrows of love...

Wish you all a Happy 'n love filled Valentine's Day!!!!!!

Long live St. Valentine!!! OOpsie.. forgot he's been executed.. So, May God Bless this noble soul!!!!! Amen!

That's all folks.. thanks for tuning in to Smitha Speaks...
