One week back I saw the movie Parazzhi Raja.. I was in a
bit of a double mind on whether to watch this movie or not
after havin watched Jodha Akbar.. you must be wonderin why
this comparison between two completely different movies..
Actually I was more or less associatin them on the basis of
length.. Jodha Akbar was one movie that made me feel like
runnin away from the theatre mid way through.. It was so
long that it made me cry.. Yeah I admit the picturisation,
choreography, songs, costumes, Hrithik 'n Aishwarya(even
though she did look a bit tired 'n old in some parts..)
were mindblowin.. but too much of beauty was gettin on my
nerves.. I do agree a thing of beauty is a joy forever but
4 hours of continuous beauty was pretty suffocating.. I started
yearnin for the ugly or plain truths of life..
Ok lets cut this short 'n come to the main topic here that
is Parazhi Raja.. My fears were unfounded 'n I did enjoy
the movie even though it too was a bit long.. Mammooty as
always was good but I wont say this is his best... I have
seen him in much more awesome roles than this.. I believe
Sharat as his deputy 'n Manoj K. Jayan as the tribal
warrior just stole the show.. This was the first time I was
seein Sharath in a movie.. I only knew him as this handsome
guy married to Radhika.. He not only looks good but acts
well too.. Manoj, every mallu knows he's a great actor.. 'n
he proved it yet again.. How could I forget Padma Priya..
one of my favourite actress.. She's one actor who
literally lives the role.. Whatever role she does
she makes it believable whether it be a beggar or a warrior
princess.. she's someone who's so comfortable in her skin..
Completely relaxed 'n a natural actor.. But her role was cut I
believe coz in one scene she was shown fightin the British
then all of a sudden the focus shifted to Sharat 'n that's it.. after
that there was no mention of what happened to her...
Among the British actors I should mention this particular
guy who played the collector I believe, dont remember
the name.. He was one actor who had the same expression
through out the movie.. whether that was deliberate or
was he such a bad actor, I have no idea.. Whether he was
cryin or smilin or being angry he had the same constipated
kinda expression on his face.. The girl who played his fiancee
was real cute but why she was in the movie no one had a clue..
The picturisation, the songs, the overall look of the movie
was pretty nice.. I especially loved the guerilla kinda
warfare that they showed in the movie.. A small band of
warriors takin on a big army reminded me of Asterix 'n
Obelix takin on the Roman army..
The end scene actually should have made me sad
but I ended up laughin.. At the end obviously
Parazzhi Raja dies 'n he's bein carried off in this
palaquin.. Among the palanquin bearers the guy
in the front was literally staggerin.. Just watchin him
stagger along we started laughin.. Thank God there were
no true blue Mammootty fans out there otherwise I
wouldnt be alive to tell the tale..

I heard about that movie too... These historic movies are always hyped about so much, but are also messed up the most! And I do have to agree with you on that Jodha Akbar thing.. It was excruciating, as beautiful as it was.... And the Brit actor... well... I want to see this movie, just to see his 'constipated' look!
